The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center (BSFHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all of the primary health care needs of families in the heart of North and Central Brooklyn. Our mission is to provide the most professional, courteous and highest quality health care, with dignity, to those we serve, especially the undeserved population, without regard for ability to pay. In addition to operating the Health Centers, we operate in School-Based Health Centers to increase the accessibility and availability of quality primary and preventive physical and mental health care to pre-school, elementary, middle and secondary school students in high-risk areas of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn.
We are seeking Call Center Representative to join our team! Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills and a focus on quality patient care. Ideal candidates should be reliable, energetic, self-motivated, warm, upbeat and well spoken. Candidates must have the ability to handle difficult situations with a smile, be able to give our patients the care and attention they deserve, be an energetic team player and be able to communicate effectively and multi-task. This role will be primarily working in the call center, however the team member will be cross trained to work at the front desk if needed.
Grant-funded: Continuation of employment is contingent upon continuation of grant funding from year to year.
Responsibilities:
- Answers high-volume calls on a multi-line phone system; screens and directs calls, takes detailed messages and/or forwards telephone calls to appropriate physician or team member.
- Schedules patient appointments.
- Inputs and verifies demographics and insurance in EMR.
- Collects copay and balances, verifies insurance eligibility, and ensures physician and insurance referrals are on file.
- Meet and greets patients with positive attitude.
- Performs general clerical duties including but not limited to prepare and forwarding mail, scanning, photocopying, and faxing as required.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues, comply with HIPPA rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by physician, supervisor, or management.
Qualifications:
- HS/GED or higher but may be offset with significant experience in profession.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Strong computer skills
- Understanding of medical terminology and medical insurance
- Must be available to work Saturday and Sunday when required.
Education/Experience Required:
- HS/GED or higher but may be offset with significant experience in profession.
- Preferred 2-5 years of relevant experience.
Hourly rate up to $17/hr.
