Senior Database Engineer

We are looking for experienced and innovative Database enginee r/ Architect in the Enterprise Data Services team. The Candidate is required to possess SME level expertise in multiple databases including data warehouse with relevant database design and modeling experience. This is a significant opportunity for an experienced engineer with exposure in modern data platforms to move into a role working with database engineering / Architecture and a variety of development teams, including close collaboration with Data Governance team. Successful candidates will evaluate modern technology solutions and oversee the various databases under Genesis platform.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide SME level assistance to resolve any database issues related to performance, capacity, and access including database migration from one technology to another

• Provide support to manage and monitor performance, capacity, and security of databases.

• Prepare documentations regarding database design, configuration and change management tasks including project planning.

Requirements/Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience on database architecture & administration

• 5+ years of experience in Netezza database administration for very large databases

• 2+ years experience working with IBM ICPDS NPS (Netezza Performance Server).

• 5+ years of experience in managing and administering the VLDBs in SQL and/or NOSQL database s.

• 5+ years of experience as Oracle DBA/Architect with in depth knowledge as an SME

• 5+ years of experience in query performance tuning , database tuning , database backups and restore

• Administration and migration experience in Snowflake data platform is a huge plus.

• Extensive experience in managing high availability systems, replication, and DR solution , and monitoring and setting up database metrics, dashboards, and alerts.

• Strong scripting skills in Python, Perl, Linux shell, and other scripts

• Experience in big data platform including Hadoop is preferred

• Experience in Open Shift Administration, docker container technologies, and Hadoop components, Starburst are preferred

• Working experience on Tableau and other BI tools

• Good exposure to various Database technologies like Netezza , Teradata , Starburst etc.

• Bachelor s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
