Summary of Role:


The Energy Consultant will be the home buyer's primary point of SunPower contact and will serve in a sales and advisory role to customers and prospects considering adding solar to their new home.

To succeed in this role, an individual must possess a customer service-focused mindset and personality, understand the key role they play in the sales process, and work well as a team with the New Homes Builder Account Manager and our builder customers.

As the first point of contact for SunPower prospects, the Solar Consultant qualifies leads over the phone and will make presentations to potential customers on the benefits of solar.

This role responds to high volumes of leads and will suit a dynamic individual, highly organized, and able to multi-task, with a true passion for sales and customer engagement.

This person is a subject matter expert on how homeowners can save on energy costs including understanding the applicable utility rate plans.


In addition to the customer service and sales-related functions, the Energy Consultant will serve key administrative roles with regards to the customer experience and overall process.

This individual must possess a unique blend of abilities.

A successful Solar Consultant will have the skills necessary to complete tasks with focus and attention, as well as see the larger strategic picture related to their role in the sales process.

This is in an effort to continually refine processes and workflows to become more efficient internally and create improved customer experiences.

This position is based in Austin, TX.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Handles inbound leads, being the first point of contact for prospects
Qualifies leads by screening for a pre-determined set of criteria
Listens to homeowner interests and concerns while providing feedback relevant to that specific homeowner
Converse with homebuyers to gather initial information about their home buying status
Prepare proposals using the SunPower proposal generating tool
Conducts online sales consultations with new home prospects
Maintains high end-customer satisfaction by guiding prospects through the sales channel and process
Captures all customer-related data into SalesForce (CRM) and other IT platforms
Works with lead transfer and appointment process issues
Meet and exceed monthly quotas and service level agreements while working in a fast-paced environment
Develops into a subject matter expert on the solar industry and on selling SunPower products
Willingness to be available and work outside of standard business hours, those that are most convenient to CA residential homeowners
> Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associates degree and 4+ years related experience
OR an equivalent combination of education and years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Inside sales experience gained within a sales quota environment preferred.
Strong project management and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs and meet tight deadlines
Experience with
Knowledge of solar or leased services
Ability to work independently with moderate direction in a fast-paced environment
Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Exceptional communication skills, in particular, verbal and written
