Desktop Support Specialist
Location: Reno, NV
Duration: 6 months
Description:
General Purpose
- Support clients of the company systems.
- Desktop support responsibilities include; imaging new PCs or laptops, hardware/software setup and configuration, remote control, and phone support to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Under direct supervision, provide accurate, timely, and known solutions to end user computer and networking problems of basic to moderately complex nature to ensure end-user productivity.
- Perform restorative and maintenance actions either remotely or at the end users location to resolve problems using basic troubleshooting and technical skills.
- Respond to situations where standard procedures have failed in isolating or fixing problem equipment or software installations, moves, and configuration changes.
- Maintain accurate information and data regarding end-user issues within the tracking system and according to policies and standards.
- Establish a working relationship and understanding of dedicated support area to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients and management.
- Develop, work through, and complete small projects as well as document processes and procedures according to corporate standards. - Delegate responsibilities of the project to appropriate team members and provide status to supervisors and clients.
- Perform other tasks as requested or assigned.
Requirements for this position include the following:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically, four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelors degree.
- A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.)
- Basic hands-on experience in a technical support role that includes some desktop PC support responsibilities.
- Show basic competency in troubleshooting desktop device conflicts, connectivity issues, and application issues in a Windows operating system in a Novell environment.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and with others.
- A+ Certification
