Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) Analytics, Data and Marketing is dedicated to supporting merchants globally and transforming what it means to be an Amex merchant. Our team is responsible for partnering with global markets to drive profitable growth, accelerate Merchant Acceptance and amplify the value of Amex acceptance to Merchants and Card Members at scale. Within the Analytics, Data and Marketing, we offer powerful data and actionable insights to attract new businesses to engage with Amex, help existing businesses improve performance and capitalize on new opportunities.

Reporting to the VP of Merchant Engagement & Digital Experience, the Director, Merchant Insights Products is responsible for the strategy and development of a suite of business insights products that leverage our closed loop data to grow and strengthen merchant and partner relationships with Amex. These products empower client management, marketing, and servicing teams to easily access complex merchant data and derive value-add insights for business development, contractual obligations, internal reporting and scorecards, and marketing activities.

This director will be integral to charting a strategy and roadmap to simplify data and reporting tools for internal colleagues, broadening the reach and usage of existing insights products, and setting the vision for new capabilities and products. The Director works across GMNS, EDDS, AET, and others to deliver the product roadmap against customer and colleague goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Set vision, strategy and priorities for merchant insights products, including reporting suite for internal colleagues and business insights for internal colleagues and customers
  • Develop and execute on a roadmap to simplify MIRA (Merchant Insights Reporting & Analytics) user experience for internal colleagues, grounded in user insights and needs
  • Expand use cases, supported LOBs, and insights provided by SMART (Self-Managed Analytics & Reporting Tool)
  • Research and understand colleague and customer needs to inform data strategy, requirements and product roadmap
  • Contribute strategic insights & forward-thinking ideas to evolve the vision of the GMNS data products
  • Collaborate with Merchant Data Office and Network & Acquirer Solutions to define capabilities and deliver on product roadmap
  • Partner closely with Client Management, Marketing and Policy teams globally on identifying emerging merchant insights needs and defining product and business requirements
  • Lead and develop a team of 5 high-performing product managers.

Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of product management experience, along with merchant business and data experience
  • Deep working knowledge of Cornerstone/Big Data is needed, along with building products that provide self-service capabilities to access and comprehend complex data and insights
  • Familiarity with business insights platforms such as Tableau, Sisense and Microstrategy
  • Ability to put enterprise thinking first, connect the role s agenda to enterprise priorities and balance the needs of customers, partners, colleagues & shareholders
  • Demonstrated learning agility, ability to make decisions quickly and with the highest level of integrity
  • Extensive experience developing new product concepts, managing a complex backlog, and working closely with scrum teams to assess development feasibility.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate large teams of product managers, designers, engineers and business partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-start, carve opportunities out of ambiguity and operate with a high degree of independence
  • Experience translating customer data, insights and feedback into informed product strategy and roadmap
  • People leadership experience, including coaching and mentoring of digital product managers
  • Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum, Kanban and SAFe.
  • Cross functional leader and strategic thinker who has proven success working with a large group of stakeholders.
