This is a dynamic and aspirational time for cancer care and research at the University of Cincinnati (UC). The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center (UCCC) was recently reorganized, in alignment with UC's forward-thinking strategic planning towards achieving NCI-designation. Reporting to the Division Director of Hematology and Oncology, the Center Director will contribute to this transformation of cancer care at UC as a clinician, researcher, educator and highly collaborative leader. This is an academic position with protected time for research, teaching, administration and generous resources for faculty recruitment and program building. Compensation is highly competitive with the opportunity for incentives based on clinical and/or academic productivity.

Elevating the cancer enterprise at UC and achieving NCI-designation is an institutional priority and mission, and the Center Director will be a critical contributor in achieving this mission. The Center Director will apply strong administrative acumen and visioning to harness current institutional momentum and investments. Clinical researchers have access to services through the University of Cincinnatis Center for Clinical and Translational Science and Training (CCTST), the academic home of the UCs institutional Clinical and Translational Science Award from the NIH. In addition, the UC cancer clinical trials office manages oncology trials for all cancer-related clinical departments, with teams organized by disease groups.

Seeking to achieve NCI designation in the years ahead, UCCC has engaged in ongoing investments and strategic initiatives toward this end. Senior leadership across the university, the college of medicine, the health system and the cancer center are fully aligned in implementing a comprehensive vision that will build and support a nationally recognized cancer program that excels in all spheres: clinical care, research, education and training, and community impact.

Essential Functions

As a subject matter expert in Breast cancer, the Center Director will:

• Provide support to internal colleagues.
• Resolve medical issues.
• Provide critical input to ensure high strategic and scientific standards.
• The successful candidate will represent the university externally through presentations at key scientific meetings and advisory boards.
• Additionally, the Center Director will manage strategic partnerships with key opinion leaders, academic institutions, and professional societies.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants for this faculty position must have all of the following prior to effective date of appointment:

• MD or DO (or foreign equivalent).
• Ohio Medical License.
• Completion of three-year ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
• Completion of a two-year fellowship in Hematology or Oncology, or a three-year fellowship in Hematology and Oncology.
• Board eligibility or certification in Hematology, Oncology, or Hematology and Oncology.
