The Global Merchant Network Services (GMNS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express revenue: Merchant discount revenue. The team works closely with multiple business partners to determine the ideal pricing structure that will encourage merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction. Ultimately, we drive merchant revenue and profit growth through customer-centric pricing principles, more flexible pricing architecture, and innovative pricing solutions.

The Manager in U.S. Pricing Strategy and Execution is responsible for providing analytical and strategy execution support for strategic merchant pricing initiatives. This position will work alongside senior leaders in the GMNS Pricing, Client Management, and Sales organizations in a fast-paced environment and assist in high profile projects with significant impact to the U.S. merchant business.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the merchant business, as well as exposure to and insight from senior leaders across the Blue Box. The Manager should be a dynamic individual who can work closely with senior leaders and has the right ambition to drive change.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement industry-wide pricing strategies based on business and financial objectives, market and competitive analyses, and pricing capabilities

  • Lead pricing initiatives, ensuring alignment with company goals, key performance indicators, and ever-changing market dynamics

  • Optimize existing pricing strategies to accelerate revenue growth, coverage, and merchant satisfaction

  • Present regularly to senior management and cross-functional partners, detailing key initiatives and the financial impact of pricing decisions

  • Serve as key project manager and business liaison to ensure successful launch and implementation of high-profile pricing initiatives

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of a robust pricing infrastructure and other internal processes

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, pricing strategy, strategic financial analysis, or related experience.

  • Strategic thought leader with the ability to work independently through unstructured problems and develop clear action plans

  • Exceptional aptitude for analytics; demonstrated ability to develop sophisticated financial models and draw value-added insights from large amounts of financial data

  • Strong project management skills with full ownership from analysis through to implementation

  • Ability to present findings and recommendations in compelling presentations while effectively communicating and influencing multiple stakeholders at all levels of management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience leading discussions with Senior Leaders to facilitate decisions making

  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, which places a premium on driving results

  • Creative thinker who is willing to question traditional ways of doing things and develop new approaches to old challenges

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high performance under tight timelines and quickly adapt to changing priorities

  • Bachelor s Degree required; MBA preferred

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
