Job Summary:

Capital One is seeking an experienced Director of Generative AI to lead the development of our Generative AI platform. In this role, you will oversee a team of AI engineers and applied scientists, driving initiatives to optimize training pipelines, deploy large ML models, and build scalable infrastructure in our public cloud environment. As a key member of our team, you will help revolutionize the banking industry by harnessing the transformative power of generative AI.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Be in charge of a group that includes AI engineers and applied scientists who will establish the basis of the Generative AI platform.
• Overall, designing and implementing large-scale distributed training clusters in the public cloud can provide significant benefits in terms of speed, cost, and accuracy of machine learning models. However, it requires careful planning and execution to ensure optimal performance and resource utilization.
• A fault-tolerant infrastructure is a must-have when conducting long-running training tasks, as it ensures that the processes can continue to run smoothly despite any interruptions.
• Continually testing and optimizing the infrastructure to improve its reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Our Gen AI platform holds innumerable possibilities for developing powerful anomaly/fraud detection systems and for streamlining information retrieval. We intend to help our users in leveraging these possibilities by providing them with SDKs and APIs.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Prospective candidates must possess a four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.
• With my extensive experience in designing and building large-scale ML systems spanning over seven years, I am confident in my ability to deliver exceptional results to any project.
• With a solid track record of over six years in the field, I have built up a wealth of experience in crafting AI/ML algorithms, utilizing key programming languages such as Python and C/C++.
• An established manager with over 5 years of experience successfully leading teams comprising of engineers and applied scientists.
• Extensive experience of over three years in ML development, along with advanced knowledge of open-source AI/ML frameworks and public cloud, fuels my passion for delivering high-quality results.

• Pursuing a higher degree in Computer Science or a related field can allow you to gain a global perspective and work on diverse projects with professionals from different backgrounds and cultures.
• Has a solid understanding of machine learning techniques and is equipped with practical experience in training and deploying deep neural networks and/or transformer architectures at scale.
• Delve into research publications in esteemed peer-reviewed conferences or obtain open-source contributions widely accepted by the industry.
• Well-versed in utilizing machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Lightning, and Mosaic ML on GPU clusters to enhance machine learning solutions. Experienced in executing various machine learning tasks, such as image recognition, natural language processing, and predictive analytics, among others.
• The proficiency to evolve ideas quickly in a fast-moving, uncertain setting.
• Well-versed in managing and handling public cloud infrastructures like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proficiency in deploying large neural network frameworks that are capable of meeting the demands of highly-demanding production environments.
