Kansas Children's Service League of Topeka, KS is currently hiring for an empathetic and motivated full-time Family Support Specialist to utilize the Healthy Family America model to foster positive, trusting relationships with families. This full-time Support Specialist position works Monday through Friday during business hours with some occasional evenings and weekends as needed and earns a competitive pay of up to $17.78/hour. We are a family-focused nonprofit organization that is passionate about supporting and encouraging families toward positive community involvement and strengthening family structures.

FAMILY SUPPORT SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS


In this full-time Family Support Specialist role, we rely on you to provide excellent family services including visiting families in their homes to provide support and help establish positive home environments. Further, you advocate for strong parent-child relationships that lead to positive attachments and encourage the overall well-being of children and their families. You pride yourself in being able to provide invaluable guidance in the development of the Family Goal Plan as you help families achieve identified goals through encouragement and the implementation of strategies. This includes implementing reflective strategies with interpersonal skills that normalize and accentuate the positive to help strengthen parent-child relationships.


In addition to carrying out our mission to support and strengthen family units, you keep organized records including documenting observations of children and families through weekly notes taken during home visits and through the implementation of research-based curriculum. You are also collaborative, working well with others, and meeting weekly with your supervisor to reflect and review family interventions and documentation. Finally, you enjoy being a "feet on the ground" presence as you also help with outreach through community fairs and attend regular team and community meetings where team support is occasionally needed. At the end of the day, you are proud of the role you play on our nonprofit team and enjoy seeing your hard work pay off through the growth and strengthening of families in our community!


  • Completed high School Diploma or equivalent

  • Previous experience working with or providing services to children and families

  • Strong interpersonal skills


Our ideal support coordinator is preferably bilingual in English and Spanish and has a bachelor's degree in human services or child development
