Payroll Accountant

LHH Recruitment Solutions is in a search for a Payroll Accountant. Our client, located in Chicago, IL is in the nonprofit industry, and they are looking for an experienced payroll accountant to join their team on a direct-hire basis. This is a great opportunity for a motivated payroll accountant to obtain great experience. This position is hybrid working two days from home.

Responsibilities:

Process bi-weekly payroll for 300+ employees

Perform updates to payroll tax schedule, general ledger journal entries, associated balance sheet and expense verifications, and reconciliations

Submit payment requests for wage related deductions, i.e., garnishments, 401k deferrals

Maintain ongoing payroll tracking, year - end reporting, and annual auditing needs

Reconcile and process benefit vendor payment

Ensure accurate identification of non-public funding supporting personnel costs

Update labor allocations in HRIS as needed

Work in the month-end closing process to ensure accuracy of cost allocations

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting preferred

2+ years of related experience

Experience in financial statement preparation

Strong working knowledge of current applicable payroll tax and wage laws and practices

Strong knowledge of payroll software required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
