THE POSITION

As Chief Counsel for TTEC Digital, our high-growth and innovative business segment with $500M+ in revenue, you'll partner with others to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Reporting to TTEC parent company Chief Legal & Risk Officer, you will work directly with members of the TTEC Digital executive leadership team to enable the business segment’s growth objectives through support of its go-to-market (sales), operations and compliance functions. The ambitious growth plans for this business segment require us to enhance its legal support through the hiring of a high energy commercial technology attorney who is seeking a unique opportunity to grow her/his career with the business. For the right candidate, this could be an opportunity to be mentored into a General Counsel role or to be a designated successor to TTEC public company Chief Legal Officer.

More specifically, the Chief Counsel, Digital will

  • Lead all aspects of legal and regulatory support for TTEC Digital business segment of TTEC Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTEC);
  • Be highly skilled in leading, mentoring, empowering, and retaining a team of high-performing lawyers and contract professionals;
  • Provide advice and counsel to executive leadership and key business stakeholders with a clear focus on enabling TTEC Digital’s business objectives;
  • Support TTEC Digital governance and regulatory compliance;
  • Contribute to TTEC Digital deal process, from start to finish, to ensure that through contracts we maintain an appropriate balance between reasonable risk and our growth goals;
  • Structure, draft, negotiate and manage commercial technology contracts, including licenses, master services, alliance and strategic partnership agreements, and technology reseller arrangements;
  • Monitor and drive pragmatic compliance with legal and regulatory requirements that impact our business around the globe;
  • Leverage TTEC contracts center of excellence in India and our regional legal teams to drive efficient global support
  • As a member of the TTEC Digital Leadership Team, participate in sales pipeline and strategy meetings to understand TTEC Digital’s priorities.

In partnership with other members of TTEC’s Legal Department you will also…

  • Develop, timely update, and maintain continuous improvement of our processes, standard contract templates, risk escalation and tools;
  • Recommend and implement improvements to our compliance platform;
  • Contribute to the evolution of our contract review and approval processes;
  • Develop/deliver engaging training on risk management through contracting best practices, TTEC policies, and legal/regulatory trends relevant to TTEC Digital’s business;
  • Support potential acquisitions;
  • Drive automation in legal/regulatory services to support business growth at scale, and
  • Manage commercial litigation and claims for TTEC Digital, as they arise.
  • Maintain and expand your subject matter expertise by constantly learning.

LOCATION
TTEC Digital has offices in Austin, TX; Boston, MA; Englewood, CO; and Minneapolis, MN. Our preference is for our Chief Counsel, TTEC Digital to be based in the greater Denver, Colorado metropolitan area or in other areas where TTEC Digital has offices. We recognize, however, that the ideal candidate may be based anywhere, and we are open to a remote work format for the right candidate.

Whether you are located where TTEC Digital is located or elsewhere, we envision a flexible work environment where you spend meaningful time with your clients, with members of your team, and with members of the TTEC Legal department in face to face interactions, when it is needed, and work remotely from home otherwise.

EXPERIENCE
The Chief Counsel TTEC Digital role requires 10+ years of legal practice experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department for a major company; with at least 5 years of experience advising on commercial agreements involving technology transactions; software, system integration services; managed service agreements; licensing agreements; cloud and platform as a services agreements; digital transformation solutions, and other technology transactions.

The successful candidate would have a proven track record of

  • Technology contract lifecycle mastery, including drafting and negotiating complex agreements;
  • Proactively and timely supporting internal sales/client-facing teams in their work with external vendors, procurement departments, and their lawyers;
  • Intellectual property protection and commercialization;
  • Effective communication and presentation skills that are effective at all levels in the organization;
  • Liaising with multiple stakeholders toward consensus;
  • Delivering unwelcome news in an appropriate and diplomatic manner;
  • Being comfortable with and excelling in ambiguity;
  • Confident leadership paired with emotional intelligence and flexibility;
  • Sound judgment, good business acumen, and a practical approach designed to balance competing business and risk management priorities;
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, focused on getting things done, not on taking credit; and building trust with important clients and stakeholders;
  • Leading by example and upholding TTEC’s Code of Ethics.

The candidate we seek would also benefit from the following experiences; and while we do not expect to find all these experiences in a single candidate, any of them would be a major plus:

  • Experience in multi-jurisdictional environments with cross-border transactions and teams;
  • Experience in the boardroom and with public companies;
  • Experience with public sector clients at federal or/and state and local levels, in addition to commercial clients experience;
  • Experience working effectively across different time zones and continents with people from different cultures and backgrounds;
  • Experience with M&A transactions, including due diligence, integration, carveouts, and transition services;
  • Corporate governance experience; and
  • Experience in change of control, capital markets and other transformational transactions.

This role reports to TTEC's Chief Legal Officer/General Counsel and is an important part of the TTEC legal department’s leadership team and succession plan. This opportunity is perfect for somebody who is either already leads a legal support function for a technology company or is ‘ready now’ to assume that responsibility and functions in a deputy leadership role.

In this role, you will work closely with TTEC's colleagues around the globe in compliance, human capital, tax, pricing, and information security departments to deliver best in class, ‘risk smart’ legal support services that maximize revenue and client satisfaction.

EDUCATION
JD from a top-tier accredited law school and a license to practice law in Colorado or any jurisdiction where the services are being provided.
While formal degrees outside of law are not a requirement for the job, strong financial acumen developed through prior experience or via an undergraduate or graduate degree/concentration in business, economics, finance, or technology fields would be a major plus for the role.

Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $200,000 - $250,000. You will be eligible to participate in an annual incentive program. Actual compensation offers to a candidate may vary based upon geographic location, work experience, education or skill levels. Benefits available to eligible employees include the following:
