Vision Benefits of America (VBA) is looking for an experienced, licensed Sales Account Executive responsible for selling employer-sponsored group commercial vision plans by driving new business sales and exceeding sales targets sold through broker channels and direct opportunities in assigned territory.

We have an immediate need in the Ohio/Michigan market. Additional opportunities are available for experienced sales executives residing in FL, GA, IN, MD, NC, SC, and/or VA.

The Sales Account Executive will develop and cultivate strong relationships with organizations and brokers to maximize sales opportunities and achieve profitable growth. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sales and a consultative sales approach.

Salary is contingent on experience plus commission based on achievement of sales goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communication, Sales, Human Resources, or related field

EXPERIENCE: 5 years or more of experience in group benefits sales, brokerage, or related experience

Must possess and maintain state insurance license in assigned territory

Essential Functions

  • Manage, cultivate, and develop relationships as a strategic consultant with brokers, clients, and prospective customers within the assigned territory to maximize sales opportunities
  • Perform renewals and add-on sales of assigned groups to ensure retention, profitability, and growth of existing business within an assigned territory.
  • Identify various approaches to partner with the client organizations by evaluating the range of VBA’s product line, demonstrating a deep understanding of the customer’s business and requirements and the benefits of VBA’s product (e.g., fully vs. self-insured, a combination of products and/or covers a range of organizational structures).
  • Establish and conduct appointments with brokers and customers’ executive-level decision makers to present solutions
  • Develop an innovative sales strategy to contact prospects to create opportunities to sell VBA products and increase revenue
  • Communicates expertise on product solutions, optical and employee benefit industry trends, and changes to employer needs
  • Utilize Salesforce to research prospective opportunities, maintain records, and prepare reports
  • Provide substantial oversight and accountability for Request for Proposal (RFP) process and responses including presenting proposals to customer organizations
  • Represent VBA with trade organizations and at customer meetings, conventions, and sales events to promote sales and customer support

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the employee benefits marketplace
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills with a high degree of integrity, responsiveness, and reliability
  • Ability to work remotely and be accountable for daily and monthly metrics, including sales pipeline and renewal rate
  • Ability to conduct in-person meetings and travel up to 75% of the time within assigned territory
  • Demonstrated record of exceeding sales goals
  • Ability to effectively prioritize concurrent sales opportunities
  • Competitive, independent starter with a strong work ethic, resilience, and comfortable with rejection
  • Proficient using MS Office and Salesforce
  • Ability to maintain state insurance licensing in assigned territory
  • Ability to maintain valid driver’s license with reliable automobile transportation and current auto insurance ($250,000/$500,000 minimum) throughout employment
