Payroll Accountant – This role is direct hire and hybrid in the downtown Chicago area. Work for a financial services company with an outstanding reputation! The Payroll Accountant role handles the processing of bi-monthly payroll and commissions as well as payroll reporting and tax filings. This position will also be responsible for account reconciliations and financial reports. Company offers a fun and flexible work culture and excellent benefits.



Responsibilities:




  • Prepare and process payroll for exempt and non-exempt multi-state employees.

  • Prepare and process monthly commission payouts and handle general ledger commission accruals

  • Prepare and submit payroll information for employees

  • Review timesheets and resolve any discrepancies

  • Assist employees and answer employee inquiries regarding

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year end reports

  • Prepare month journal entries relevant to payroll

  • Assist with annual audit

  • Run payroll reports and import into the accounting software



    • Qualifications:




  • 3+ years of payroll processing including tax reporting




  • Associates degree or bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred

  • Accounting degree is preferred

  • Strong understanding of GAAP Accounting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Proficient with payroll software, Paycom experience a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Accounting software systems—NetSuite a plus
